Forex Basics

Forex Basics

The first thing to notice about currency prices in the Forex market is that there are two of them, called the bid price and the ask price. The second thing to notice is that they don?t favor you, the trader; they favor the broker, because that?s how he makes his money.

The ask price is what you pay should you wish to purchase that currency pair. Using the GBP/USD as an example, let?s say you believe the pound is going to strengthen against the U.S. dollar, meaning that the chart of the two currencies is going to go up on the graph.

In such a trade you would be purchasing the pound now at a lower rate (and by definition, selling the dollar) so that you can sell it later at its (hopefully) higher rate. And, since the pound is the base currency and it controls the direction of the trade, to purchase the pound means to purchase the currency pair. Such a trade is called opening a long position.

The bid price is the exact opposite: it?s what you pay should you wish to sell, or short, that currency pair. To continue the example of the GBP/USD, let?s say you believe the U.S. dollar is going to strengthen against the pound, rather than the other way around. In this trade, you would be purchasing the dollar now (and selling the pound) in order to sell it later.

But remember, it?s the base currency that controls the direction of the trade. When you purchase the cross currency, by definition you?re selling the base; in other words, you?re selling the currency pair rather than buying it. So all the signals are reversed: the chart will go down on the graph and the price of the currency pair will decrease.

But because you sold or shorted the currency pair rather than purchased it, you want the price to decrease, because it?s the price of the base currency that?s going down while the price of the cross is going up. In our example, if you shorted the GBP/USD, you would earn a profit if the price of the pair went down.

Calculating the number of pips you earn in a short trade is the same as for a long trade. Just ignore which was the purchase or the sale price, and subtract the lower number from the higher one. The difference is the amount of your gain.

Note that the ask price is always higher than the bid. You have no choice but to buy high and sell low when trading on the Forex market.

The difference between the bid and the ask is called the spread, and that?s the amount of money the broker takes as his commission. (Yes, that?s all the broker takes; he makes his profit on a large volume of trades rather than large commissions.)

Obviously, the smaller the spread, the more money you get to keep out of what you make. Spreads are competitive among brokers; keeping their spreads small is one means of attracting customers. And spreads among the most popular currency pairs are generally smaller than those for pairs that aren?t as commonly traded, which is one of the best reasons for sticking with the ?majors,? as they?re called.

Forex 101 - Foreign Currency Exchange Trading

Nearly everyone enjoys making money. More often than not, the more money we make the better we feel and the more confidence we have. These are good things as long as making money doesn?t get too emotional. If investing is treated like a business and most of the emotion is left behind, many people can do well with their investments.

Forex Trading, also known as FX Trading is another way you can make money in a trading environment. Everyone has heard of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), each featuring either stock trading or options and futures trading. Forex Trading involves the buying and selling of currencies instead of stocks, bonds, options or futures. It is also different in that there is no physical floor or exchange area like there is in New York or Chicago where the above mentioned exchanges are located. The Foreign Exchange Market (FOREX) can only be accessed by phone or by electronic network. The advantage of not having a central location, but instead having an electronic network, is that the Forex can operate 24 hours a day. In fact, it is open for trading all day and night during work days, roughly 5 days a week.

Since the Spot Forex Market is the largest financial market in the world, it is also the most liquid. This means it is easy to get in and out of a position whenever you want. The more liquid a market is, the easier it is to initiate and fulfill a transaction. Of course, the objective when trading in any market is to buy low and sell high. With Online Forex Trading, a person buys and sells the currencies of other nations. If one believes the U.S. Dollar will strengthen against the EURO, for instance, they can buy Dollars now and sell them later at a profit. Currencies are traded in currency pairs and each currency is represented by a 3 letter code. Therefore, a rate, which consists of a pair of currency codes, will end up being a 6 letter code. For instance, USD/GBP is considered a currency pair with each containing three letters for a total of 6 in a rate.

Your objective as a Forex trader is to make sure you can correctly identify the current trend in the currencies you are trading and to make sure you are buying a currency which is appreciating in value and selling a currency which is depreciating. Slightly different than stock trading, you will utilize special software programs which allow you to participate in Online Forex Trading. You can also participate in Forex Trading Education at many Forex Trading company websites, and some allow you to test your Forex Trading Strategy in a ?practice mode? before you actually use your own money.

Forex or FX Currency Trading can be an exciting alternative to the stock, bond, option or precious metals markets. To some it is a simpler way to trade and profit. To others it is a welcome break from disappointing corporate news that can drive a stock down dramatically in seconds. Whatever your reasons, Forex Trading may be just the break you need from other investments you may be tiring of.

Forex; Foreign Currency Investing

Forex; Foreign Currency Investing

For those that are looking for an exciting way to invest - Forex definitely delivers. Forex stands for foreign exchange and it is the world?s largest financial market.

Forex is quite different from investing in the NYSE or NASDAQ because Forex takes place at dozens of locations all over the world. In fact, most traders are day traders that trade from home. While this form of investing can be risky, it can be extremely profitable. Forex trading occurs 24 hours per day (except on weekends). One of the things that make Forex unique is that you aren?t buying a currency or selling a currency, you are actually trading one currency for another.

While Forex seems very easy at first, it can be extremely complicated and risky. There are tons of tools online that can help you climb the steep learning curve and for those that do, it is possible to make a very, very good living.

Forex is an interesting investment for some because of the amount of leverage one can have. Some Forex trading brokerages allow their member accounts to leverage the amount of currencies they purchase by 10, 25, 50 times or more. This means with an initial investment of $1K, you can theoretically control over 50K of currencies in some situations. While this can lead to large profits, it can also lead to financial ruin if you make the wrong decision on a trade. One of the ways that many investors learn to trade Forex without risk is to use the systems simulation platform. Many Forex brokerages have a simulation platform that is identical to the normal platform and uses current, real world data. This way, if you are just starting out and make a mistake on the simulation, it won?t cost you a dime.

Forex can be extremely fast paced. While many investors are those that are day traders looking to make a quick buck each day, others trade for the long term, looking for long term trends that are much less riskier and can return much more than a day trade. Whatever your strategy, Forex can be an excellent way to invest. It should be noted that almost anyone can trade from their computer and with a limited amount of investment, however before you trade, get to know the system you trade on and the dynamics of the foreign currency market.

Forex: Amazing Profits From Momentum Position Trading

Forex: Amazing Profits From Momentum Position Trading

When the market explodes out of a channel, either rising above resistance or dropping below support, use the momentum technique with the MACD. This is generally a position trade, lasting several days or even a month. While you?ll pay a small overnight renewal fee (with most brokers) to keep the trade active, these trades generally bring in enough pips to make holding the position well worth your while.

Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) is a popular indicator that works well in momentum markets. MACD (pronounced mac-d) plots three different exponential moving averages, and displays them as two lines of different colors that criss-cross atop the chart itself or within the window below it. One line is the MACD itself; the other is called the signal or trigger line.

The MACD also plots a histogram, which is a sort of bar chart in the window below the currency pair?s price chart. On the MACD histogram, there is a line that signals the zero point, called the centerline, and the bars of its chart rise and fall above and below that centerline like a wave. The histogram illustrates the difference between the MACD line and its signal line; when they cross each other, the histogram will read zero.

If your software platform wants you to set the configuration of the MACD, the most popular settings are 12 and 26 for the indicator itself and 9 for the signal line. Experiment to find what works best for you and your own trading style.

Like the RSI, MACD can indicate when a currency pair is overbought or oversold. There?s no specific number to indicate this, but when the lines of the histogram get really long, that?s a good hint that a reversal could be near.

Again like the RSI, MACD can indicate divergence. When the price reaches a new high or low but the MACD line doesn?t, that could mean the momentum is weakening. Again, a reversal could be near.

The technique

When the MACD crosses its signal line, that?s an entry signal in the direction the MACD line is going. If it falls below its signal line, look to see if a short trade is feasible; if it rises above it, go long. This signal is considered especially strong if, shortly after the crossover happens, the price of the currency pair breaks above resistance or below support; that could signal a big move.

Be aware that the MACD is a lagging indicator, so its signals won?t call the absolute highs and lows for you. That?s why it?s not helpful in a range-bound market: if you base your entry points only on the MACD, by the time the indicator catches up to the current price, the price may have risen or fallen so far within the channel that there?s no longer enough of a trade left to be profitable.

When using the MACD in a momentum market, where price has broken through support or resistance and is reaching new highs or lows, the MACD signals may start showing divergence, indicating the trend is weakening when perhaps it really isn?t. In that situation, watch the price chart itself, and compare what it is telling you to what the indicators show.

For example, let?s say the GBP/USD has broken out above resistance and is reaching new highs. The MACD signaled the break by crossing over its trigger line, but as the price continues to rise, the MACD doesn?t reach new highs, indicating divergence, and you wonder if the trend is weakening. Meanwhile, the price continues to rise.

Should you bail out? No. Watch the chart.

As the GBP/USD continues to rise, it will fluctuate in short- and intermediate term trends, going down a bit then rising again. This is called market jitters, or swing lows (if the currency pair was falling, they would be called swing highs). Don?t let it bother you; it?s perfectly normal.

Notice that each new swing low is higher than the one before. The market doesn?t swing down so much that the long-term trend changes; it just retraces itself for a while, then resumes its climb. It looks rather like someone dribbling a basketball up a hill, each dribble higher than the one before. (You do, of course, have your stop set far enough away that the swings don?t trigger it and kick you out of a profitable trade. Hopefully your broker offers a trailing stop, so it rises to follow as the price goes up, locking in your profits.)

Wait for that pattern to change. When a swing low goes lower than the previous one, that?s the bail-out point. Close your trade, then sit back and calculate your profits.

Forex ? There Is No Sure Fire System

Forex ? There Is No Sure Fire System

Anyone claiming to have a sure fire trading strategy for the Forex is either lying or truly a genius because none exists?period. The Foreign Exchange market, or Forex, is the single largest market in the world. Actually, the Forex has no centralized market location but instead exists as an informal trading network where banks, governments, and retail investors can all come together and exchange currencies. Retail investors trade on the Forex via a software platform typically supplied by their broker. Nearly 2 trillion dollars are exchanged every day (the Forex is open 24 hours per day in between Sunday and Friday) giving investors ample opportunities to profit from the volatility and liquidity of the Forex.

But in truth, while the Forex offers a very simple and attainable path to sustainable investment income?it is extremely volatile for the retail investor. The standard transaction size on the Forex is $100,000 and would be very prohibitive to the majority of investors were it not for leveraging. The typical margin on a Forex trade is 1%, or $1,000. Highly leveraged positions definitely give investors more access to potentially profitable opportunities?but they also are very susceptible to losses. That is why Forex investors need a solid investment strategy to find the best currency pairs and entry/exit points.

Unfortunately, there just is no sure fire system but that is no reason to come to the market unprepared. Dow Theory states that long-term, identifiable trends exist with respect to price movements. These trends can be identified using technical analysis. There are a number of Forex investment strategies that involve the use of technical indicators to identify and capitalize upon these pricing trends. Once you find the best strategy for your particular investing style, here are a few tips to help improve your odds of success on the Forex currency market:

1. Never move your stops?these are in place to prevent losing more than you are comfortable with and investors typically move them when emotions are guiding their decisions.

2. Trust your charts?charts are everything to a technical trader and you must trust your investment strategy and interpretation of the charts in order to succeed. Don?t allow short-term price fluctuations distract you from the bigger trend?because that is where the profits lie!

3. Back testing is critical! You back test an investment strategy by creating a hypothetical investment portfolio performance history of a currency pair you are interested in. Then, apply your current asset criteria to the hypothetical portfolio and see how accurately your strategy predicts movement. You want to find a strategy with a 70% success rate or higher in order to be profitable on the Forex.

4. Never over trade! Short-term investors lose their money to the long-term investors. You can make more profit with 5-6 great trades than by using some scalping strategy which is very vulnerable to loss due to the highly leveraged positions common to the Forex.

While there is no sure fire system for trading on the Forex, these simple steps will greatly improve your odds of success and help you develop a reliable strategy that will consistently produce profits?even when it does miss occasionally!

Forex ? The Anxiety Is Killing Me!

It?s tough, isn?t it? Having an investment out there and being patient enough to just let it run its course is something that is difficult for even the most seasoned of veterans?but especially so for those trading on the Forex! The Forex, or Foreign Exchange market, is where nations, investment banks, and other investors come to exchange currencies. Nearly two trillion dollars exchange hand in a given 24-hour period of trading (the market is open 24 hours per day, Sunday through Friday) making the Forex the largest and most fluid market in the world. Investors love the Forex because it is simple and has plenty of opportunity for profit thanks to its volatility.

However, while those fluctuations in exchange rates can lead to large profits?they can just as easily zero out an account! In fact, they can cause losses to mount even faster than potential profits because Forex accounts tend to be highly leveraged?as much as 100:1?or even more in some cases!

Fear, greed, even faith?all of these very basic and real human emotions play very huge roles in the decisions made by investors. The fear of loss is a very real and valuable human emotion meant to help us evade danger and survive?but it can kill you when it comes to trading on the Forex!

Every investor on the Forex?every single one?will lose from time to time if they trade long enough. The market is always right and we humans can never achieve this level of perfection?not even the investment gurus like Warren Buffet get it right every time. Like it or not, investing is a gamble?a calculated risk. Investors increase their odds of success on the Forex by identifying the most profitable currency pairs with the least volatility and then place stops with their order to insure against catastrophic loss.

However, even with brilliant technical analysis and the best investment strategy, a loss is going to happen. Fear can play two damaging roles at this point: Fear can either scare the investor away into not investing again; or, it can compel the investor to ?get back in? on a position quickly in order to make their losses back. In both cases, fear is now guiding investment decisions and will ultimately lead to missed opportunities and potentially greater losses.

Backtesting is a common tactic practiced by many of the top investors on the Forex market. To do this, an investor creates a theoretical portfolio performance history. This is accomplished by applying current asset criteria to the hypothetical portfolio and then evaluating the accuracy of the strategy. How accurate is it in predicting price movements? If you can consistently identify long term trends using the strategy at least 70% of the time, then the theory has merit.

You do not need to backtest forever before investing again but definitely continue this practice while investing on the Forex in order to further refine your strategy and test its effectiveness. Whatever you do, avoid allowing fear to compel to you to do the opposite?that is over trade! A series of small losses will eventually add up to a big loss so never enter a position unless the charts indicate it is wise to do. If your strategy is sound and the charts correct, then you will be very successful on the Forex market even when the occasional losses are factored in!

Forex ? Can You Make Some Quick Money?

It is a little known fact that the foreign exchange market, trading upwards of $2 trillion daily, is the largest and most liquid in the world. Until recently, small, risk oriented investors were unable to tap into this market because of the size of transactions and stiff financial requirements for entry. That has all changed. Entry requires only a minimal amount of capital, opening the Forex to almost all investors.

Can you, as a smaller investor, make some quick money trading on the Forex? The answer is yes. But, wait a just a minute, not quite so fast!

One of the perceptions among smaller speculators is that the Forex offers an easy way to make money quickly. While that can be true, there are a number of precautions that the neophyte should take before committing to any sizable trades. Forex education is absolutely vital before you jump in feet first.

Even before beginning to develop knowledge of how to trade and what trading strategies to adopt, understanding a few basics is in order,. Unlike other markets (i.e. stock exchanges, etc.) the currency exchange market does not have a central, physical location for conducting trades. Trading is carried on directly between banks, foreign currency dealers and foreign investors using computer terminals, telephones and broker desks. Thus, foreign exchange trading is over the counter.

Indeed, most currency exchange trading takes place online. This accounts for the recent burgeoning growth of the Forex. Trading may be conducted 24 hours a day from anywhere worldwide. Anyone connected to the internet from their home or office may be a trader, and there has been a rush of investors to this market in search of quick money.

Fortunately, speculators entering this market can take advantage of the many free tutorials available on the internet. Beyond anything else, if you are a beginner, it absolutely critical that you refrain from serious trading until you have gained sufficient confidence by paper trading in a demo account. Making that first trade can be an intimidating proposition if you are a first-timer. Forex brokerages have recognized this, and most have created methods where the novice trader can gain some hands-on experience without having to risk real money. With a demo account, a new investor can practice making trades for a period of time before seriously dipping into the hectic arena of currency trading.

Another cautious way of approaching the Forex market is to avail your self of a mini-account offered by many brokers. Here you can get your feet wet with a smaller initial investment than with a full blown trading account.

One of the characteristics of currency trading is that profits can be realized in a matter of minutes, even seconds, unlike what you may have seen investing in stocks. This is attributable to rapid and random variations taking place in the foreign exchange market. So, it is in this fevered environment that you can make quick money.

Although nothing in the investment world is really easy, there are a considerable number of online signal services which can make earning profits in the Forex easier than you might think. A signal service will monitor the market for you and send any new developments of significance to your computer, cell phone or pager. This way, you can keep abreast of market changes as they occur in real time, offering you greater likelihood of making sound trading decisions.

A word of caution is in order. Numerous scams are showing up where companies offer to do your trading for you. Avoid these like the plague. Craft your own Forex strategies with an expert and trade solely on your own or through a licensed broker. No one should ever do your trading but you.

Yes, you can make money quickly in the Forex market. Trading goes on 24 hours a day in this highly accessible, highly liquid market. Opportunity always lies at your fingertips. Take the cautious approach outlined here. Probe the accumulated knowledge base in much greater depth using online broker services, free tutorials and demo accounts which will provide you the foundation you need to make quick money trading on the Forex.

FOREX, trading foreign currency

FOREX trading is all about trading foreign currency, stocks, and similar type of products. The currency of one country is weighed against the currency of another country to determine value. The value of that foreign currency is taken into consideration when trading stocks on the FOREX markets. Most countries have control over the value of that countries value, involving the currency, or money. Those who are often involved in the FOREX markets include banks, large businesses, governments, and financial institutions.

What makes the FOREX market different from the stock market? A forex market trade is one that involves at least two countries, and it can take place worldwide. The two countries are one, with the investor, and two, the country the money is being invested in. Most all transactions taking place in the FOREX market are going to take place through a broker, such as a bank.

What really makes up the FOREX markets? The foreign exchange market is made up of a variety of transactions and counties. Those involved in the FOREX market are trading in large volumes, large amounts of money. Those who are involved in the FOREX market are generally involved in cash businesses, or in the trade of very liquid assets that you can sell and buy fast. The market is large, very large. You could consider the FOREX market to be much larger than the stock market in any one country overall. Those involved in the FOREX market are trading daily twenty-four hours a day and sometimes trading is completed on the weekend, but not all weekends.

You might be surprised at the number of people that are involved in FOREX trading. In the years 2004, almost two trillion dollars was an average daily trading volume. This is a huge number for the number of daily transactions to take place. Think about how much a trillion dollars really is and then times that by two, and this is the money that is changing hands every day!

The FOREX market is not something new, but has been used for over thirty years. With the introduction of computers, and then the internet, the trading on the FOREX market continues to grow as more and more people and businesses alike become aware of the availablily of this trading market. FOREX only accounts for about ten percent of the total trading from country to country, but as the popularity in this market continues to grow so could that number.

Forex trading, where do customers go?

Forex trading uses currency and stock markets from a variety of countries to create a trading market where millions and millions are traded and exchanged daily. This market is similar to the stock market, as people buy and sell, but the market and the over all results are much much larger. Those involved in the forex trading markets include the Deutsche bank, UBS, Citigroup, and others such as HSBC, Braclays, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan Chase, and still others such as Goldman Sachs, ABN Amro, Morgan Stanley, and so on.

To get involved in the forex trading markets, contacting any of these large broker assistance firms is going to be in your best interest. Sure, anyone can get involved in the forex market, but it does take time to learn about what is hot, what is not, and just where you should place your money at this time.

International banks are the markets biggest users on the forex markets, as they have millions of dollars to invest daily, to earn interest and this is just one method of how banks make money on the money you save in their bank. Think about the bank that you deal with all the time. Do you know if you can go there, and obtain money from 'another' country if you are heading out on vacation? If not, that bank is most likely not involved in forex trading. If you have to know if your bank is involved in forex trading, you can ask any manager or you can look at the financial information sheets that banks are to report to the public on a quarterly baiss.

If you are new to the forex market, it is important to realize there is no one person or one bank that controls all the trades that occur in the forex markets. Various currencies are traded, and will originate from anywhere in the world. The currencies that are most often traded in the forex markets include those of the US dollar, the Eurozone euro, the Japanese yen, the British pound sterling and the Swiss franc as well as the Australian dollar. These are just a few of the currencies that are traded on the forex markets, with many other counties currencies to be included as well. The main trading centers for the forex trading markets are located in Tokyo, New York and in London but with other smaller trading centers located thought out the world as well.

Forex trading, what the hype is all about

Forex trading, what the hype is all about

Forex trading is all about making big money. Some investors have found it quite easy to make a large amount of money as the forex market changes daily. Forex, is the foreign exchange market. Online and offline you will find references to the forex market as FX as well. Forex trading takes place through a broker or a financial institution often where you are able to purchase other types of stocks, bonds and investments.

When you are thinking about getting involved in the forex markets you should know you are sending money to be invested with other countries. This is done to prop up the investments of people involved in certain types of hedge funds, and in the markets overseas. The forex market could have your money invested in one market one day, and the next day your money is invested in another country. The daily changes are determined by your broker or financial institution. When reading your statements and learning more about your account, you will find that every type of currency has three letters that will represent that currency.

For example, the United States dollars is USD, the Japanese yen is JPY, and the British pound sterling will read as GBP. You will also find that for every transaction on your account listing you will see information that looks like this: JPYzzz/GBPzzz. This means that you took your Japanese yen money and invested it into something in the British pound market. You will find many transactions from one currency to another if you have money that is scattered through out the forex markets.

Forex markets trading by investment management firms are the companies you can trust with your money. You want to find a company that has been dealing with forex trading since the early seventies, and not someone just new on the block so you get the most for your hard earned money. It is important that you beware of companies that are popping up online, and often times from foreign countries that are stating they can get you involved in the forex markets and trading. Read the fine print, and know whom you are dealing with for the best possible protection.

If you are interested in trading on the forex market, you will find limits for investing are different from company to company. Often times you will learn that you need a minimum of $250 or $500 while other companies will need $1000 or $10,000. The company you are dealing with will set limits in how much you need to open an account with their company. The scams that are online will tell you, that you only need a $1 or $5 to open an account, but you need to learn more about that company and where they are doing business before investing any money, this is for your own protection while dealing in forex trading and markets online.

Forex Trading - should you invest?

Forex trading is all about putting your money into other currencies, so you can gain the interest for the night, for time period or the difference in trading money all around. Forex trading does involve other assets along with money, but because you are investing in other countries and in other businesses that are dealing in other currencies the basis for the money you make or lose will be based on the trading of money.

Constant trading is done in the forex markets as time zones will vary and the markets will open in one country while another is near closing. What happens in one market will have an effect on the other countries forex markets, but it is not always bad or good, sometimes the margins of trading are near each other.

A forex market will be present when two countries are involved in trading, and when money is traded for goods, services or a combination of these things. Currency is the money that trades hands, from one to another. Often times, a bank is going to be the source of forex trading, as millions of dollars are traded daily. There is nearly two trillion dollars traded daily on the forex market. Should you get involved in forex trading? If you are already involved in the stock market, you have some idea of what forex trading really is all about.

The stock market involves buying shares of a company, and you watch how that company does, waiting for a bigger return. In the forex markets, you are purchasing items or products, or goods, and you are paying money for them. As you do this, you are gaining or losing as the currency exchange differs daily from country to country. To better prepare you for the forex markets you can learn about trading and purchasing online using free 'game' like software.

You will log on and create an account. Entering information about what you are interested in and what you want to do. The 'game' will allow you to make purchases and trades, involving different currencies, so you can then see first hand what a gain or loss will be like. As you continue on with this fake account you will see first hand how to make decisions based on what you know, which means you will have to read about the market changes or you will have to take a brokers information at value and play from there.

If you, as an individual want to be involved in forex trading, you must get involved through broker, or a financial institution. Finding The Most Effective Forex Trading System

The Forex trading system comes in many different guises ranging from the genuinely useful to the appallingly useless. As well as the genuine but still profitless systems that exists there are also the equally common scams from people trying to earn money for providing no valuable service. Traders who are interested in finding a profitable system will have to do their homework.

Systems are only as valuable as their results. Traders should never purchase any system or software, for that matter, that doesn?t show previous results or offer a reasonable trial period to paper trade the results. Almost all genuine systems will provide some sort of credentials about the service on offer because they want to persuade traders to purchase from them. Check the website of the system in question for historical results.

As well as looking at the results themselves traders should pay particular attention to the validity of the results. By checking some of the results against the criteria of the system it is possible to verify the selections easily and quickly. In the long run, this can save a lot of heartache. A failed system won?t necessarily lose an investor the money they spend on the system itself. Any money invested on the back of a bad system is also lost money.

A Forex trading system should give some idea as to how the selections are determined. While some secrecy is obviously required to ensure the creator retains the integrity of their system, there should be some information pertaining to the selection criteria used. An astute trader will look at this information and either be able to form their own decision on whether it sounds like a viable system or at least research the theories. It is unlikely that any system is so unique that no supporting evidence can be found.

Buyers should never rely on the testimonials that appear on websites. It doesn?t take much to write these testimonials and without some kind of verification this means there is absolutely no guarantee they weren?t written by the webmaster themselves.

As well as the Forex trading system, there are also software packages and forecasts available. The same principles apply to these as to the trading systems. The most sensible thing a trader can do before taking the plunge and paying hundreds of dollars for any system or software package is to conduct thorough research into the theories, the selections, the results and the service itself.

If somebody has already been stung by a particular scam then there is likely to be information all over the Internet. Similarly, a proven Forex trading system is also likely to have generated some interest from numerous parties.

The Forex Trader Education website has its own software called VantagePoint. VantagePoint has fully documented results and also offers free forecasts to anyone interested in purchasing the software. This gives traders the opportunity to conduct their research and to even paper trade the forecast and determine the effectiveness of the software. Visit http://www.forextradereducation.com for more information and to receive your free Forex forecasts.

Finding Spectacular Gains From Forex And Shares

Whether you are investing in shares or Forex your main gains will be capital appreciation: The investor in this category is not interested in dividends but in seeing the market price of his stock increase or one currency improving against another.

There are three advantages to this kind of operation. First, if your judgment has been good, you make more money faster than by relying on dividends. For example, the man who buys 100 shares at $30 and sells even at a 10-point profit has $1,000 (less commissions) to show for his year's work. This represents nearly seven years' worth of dividends from the $30 stock yielding a conventional 5 per cent.

Secondly, if you hold your investment for more than six months, your profit is considered a long-term capital gain, taxable at a maximum 25 per cent rate for many people, a saving over straight-income rates.

Finally, if your stock doesn't go up as anticipated, there is always the chance that it will at least be a decent income-producer.

This is something of a rationalization, of course. There is no use pretending to be in the capital-appreciation business if a little mess of dividends is all you have to show for your efforts. The more consistent course is to drop the non-producing stock (losses, if any, are tax deductible) and shop around for a winner. This, to be sure, takes guts. There's nothing like a couple of growth stocks that don't grow to take the steam out of a capital-appreciation man

On the other hand, the gloriously rising market since World War II has simplified the task of discovering and getting aboard a company with promising prospects. And, as noted, an investor could wait five years for his 10-point gain and still be ahead of the plugger piling up dividends.

Capital appreciation, it should be noted, is an omnibus term covering any change or advance in a company's position which might be reflected in the market price. It may mean the emergence of a new company in a new industry, the coming of age of a speculative youngster of a decade or two ago, or even new evidence of vitality in an established veteran.

Recently for instance, the stock of Ampex, Inc., a bright little California company manufacturing top notch equipment for the booming tape-recorder industry, has more than doubled in value.

Dozens of small companies dealing in electronics, precision equipment, and other fruits of current scientific research (Tracerlab, National Research, Beckman Instruments, etc.) are similarly attracting attention and consequent jumps in price.

Somewhat more established and riding crests of speculative interest are such stocks as General Dynamics, builder of atomic submarines and Convair airplanes; Owens-Corning Fiberglas, manufacturer of insulation, filters and textiles, and glass fiber boats, and Bendix Aviation, no infant, but investing heavily in diversification and new-product development. Dow and Minnesota Mining might also be grouped here, although possibly by now they should be included among the older companies Corning Glass, Goodrich, Union Carbide, Westinghouse, National Lead, Minneapolis Honeywell, Eastman Kodak?whose youthful spirit and astonishing technological resources have kept them in the forefront of American industry for years.

All of these examples would qualify as growth stocks, as the kind of investment that would tempt the investor seeking capital appreciation.

But appreciation can also follow from subtle and complicated changes in a company's structure. In these cases, appreciation may have nothing to do with a new product or even with the company's prospects within its industry. Rather it is the anticipated result of a merger, a spin-off (distribution of assets), a reorganization, or any one of a number of procedures available to the complex institution known as a corporation.

Talk of a merger between Bethlehem Steel and Youngstown Sheet & Tube made both stocks interesting possibilities. U.S. Foil "B" (American Stock Exchange), representing about 48 per cent control of Reynolds Aluminum; duPont, which is having to divest itself of 63 million shares of General Motors stock; Northern Pacific Railway, which has important oil interests in the booming Williston Basin of North Dakota; El Paso Natural Gas, which has formed a subsidiary, Rare Metals Corp., for uranium exploration and processing; and many others are examples of stocks with potential capital-gains features.

It is not possible to say exactly how or if the gains will be realized. Mergers require an adjustment of the stock prices of the participants which may benefit one or the other; or public interest in the prospects of the combined company may cause the stock to spurt.

An as yet undeveloped asset, such as Northern Pacific's oil, or Inland Steel's Steep Rock iron interest in Ontario, might mean an eventual bonanza which would be reflected in stock prices or a capital distribution of cash or stock. Several years back, Andes Copper, an Anaconda subsidiary operating in Chile, made a capital distribution of $6 per share at a time when the stock's market price was hovering between $12 and $15.

Most gains on Forex are capital gains, where the currency trader is hoping for an increase in the value of one currency against another. Profits can be spectacular, but it is worth having good Forex software to prevent large losses.

Finding Forex Trading Signals Services that are very profitable

Some Forex traders dream about finding great set and forget forex trading signal services which are easy to follow, profitable and convenient. They would then just copy the daily currency recommendations into their Forex broker dealing station and watch their trading account grow and grow.

A short while ago over 250 online Currency trading alert services were reviewed and alert services like the one described above do exist!

The big challenge to the average Forex Trader is firstly, finding forex trading signal services that fit the success mould and then secondly, making sure that the service is credible. This article will address the first question of how to find possible currency trading alert services to consider.

The technique mostly used by many forex traders is to search the Web using a good search engine and then to slowly search through the results to find say 20 alert services to consider for evaluation. This is a good starting point but remember to uses appropriate search terms. For instance currency trading signals, currency trading alerts and currency alert service bring up different results. This may seem like hard work but always use your trading dreams as a motivator. When on the search engine results pages do not neglect the paid adverts to further increase your chances of finding great currency trading signal services. You can find some unexpected gems by clicking on these.

An alternative good place to search for great forex trading signal services are Forex service review sites. Some of these sites give objective and paid reviews of many forex trading signal services on the market and allow users to post comments on their own personal experiences. Some of them list over a 100 forex trading alert services so your job can be reduced considerably. These are likely the best source of good forex trading alert services, as you get direct user feedback as well. We have also found these to be one of the best guides to the creditability of alert services. Use search engines to firstly find the review sites. Most of the review sites offer direct links to alert services providers.

Forex blogs are again a good source of alert service information. Going into discussion forums is a lot more time consuming and your return on effort will be less than the techniques already mentioned. We use this method to check on the credibility of a service rather than finding a service.

An often overlooked method is word of mouth. Use your network of other forex traders to enquire whether they have had any good experiences with forex trading alert services.

Using the methods above, alert services producing 27 000 pips a year and returns of between 200% and 1000% on capital used, have been found. Not a bad investment of time and effort but 250 alert services had to be researched to get there. You too can benefit from following the process described in this article and well as the articles to follow. It is well worth the effort.

The activities above should provide you with a list of between 20 and 50 Forex trading alert services to consider. How you then water these down to the few that will make you money is the subject of the next article to be published in the article directory. Make sure to watch out for them.

Finding A Great Forex Broker

Finding A Great Forex Broker

Finding a great Forex broker can make the difference between a hard slog on your own with little reward and a smooth trading experience with hansom profits.

Just as you have investment brokers to manage your portfolio, you may find it advantageous to sign on with a Forex broker. If you have decided to go that route, then there are a few basic considerations that you may want to keep in mind as you search for just the right currency broker to help you do well in the market.

One of the first things you will want to look for in any broker you hire to help you with currency exchange would be accessibility.

There is no value whatsoever in having a broker that is too busy to return your calls or respond to email queries.

The whole point of having the broker is so you have an expert who is able to interact with you on what currency to buy and to sell, and when.

A broker that considers their time too valuable to spend with you is not a broker that you need to do business with.

An attribute that you want to seek out is that of being a partner in a financial venture.

The bottom line is that if you are not making money, then your broker is not likely to be doing all that well either.

If you eventually lose your shirt and have to drop out, then the broker has lost a client.

It is in the best interests of both you and your broker to make sure you are making money and increasing your portfolio. Interestingly enough, not all brokers have this mind set.

Look for the ones that are interested in seeing your assets grow over the long haul and stay away from the ones that are looking to make a quick buck with you before moving on to the next person.

Accountability is another trait you want to look for in your broker. When making a recommendation to buy or sell a particular currency, a broker with this attribute will be able to articulate to you all the reasons why this would be a positive move for you.

While "trust me" may be all you need if you are playing a board game with a friend, it is not enough when you are talking about your money. A solid reputable broker will know that and always has some very good reasons for the advice he or she gives you.

Essentially, a great deal of what you are looking for is simply honesty, integrity, and an obvious knowledge of how currency trading works.

When you are able to find someone who exhibits all these characteristics, as well as being dedicated to making money with the customer, not off the customer, then you have found a Forex broker that is worth doing business with.

If you need help locating a good broker, a good place to start your search is the internet. Insert Forex forums into a search engine and look for good reccommendations from other Forex traders.

It should be noted Forex trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors.

Find A Money Making Forex Trading System That Works And Suits You

Find A Money Making Forex Trading System That Works And Suits You

In Forex Trading, there are two main approaches ? Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis. Fundamental analysts will concentrate on the underlying causes of price movements, whereas as technical chartist studies the actual price movement.

Fundamental analyst focus on various macroeconomic indicators - Interest Rate, Trade Balances, Growth Rates, and Unemployment rates, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Inflation and etc. For beginners, do take note that there is no single set of rule to trade Forex using fundamental analysis. There are many theories on how a currency should be valued.

Technical analyst used historical price data to forecast the direction of future price movement. Technical analysis work on the premise that all current market information is already reflected in the price and that studying price action alone is more than necessary to trade the market.

Some popular methods of technical analysis include, Chart Pattern, Japanese Candlestick Pattern, Trend line, Support and Resistance Line, Pivot points, Fibonacci Retracement and Elliott wave theory. Technical Indicators which utilize mathematical or quantitative tools are Moving Averages, Bollinger Band, Average True Range, Stochastic Oscillators, Fibonacci Retracement, Commodity Channel Index, Convergence and Divergence of Moving Averages (MACD) and Relative Strength Index (RSI).

After understanding these two widely known methods of analysis available, you could be more or less able to tell which methodology suits you most. If you are very financial incline type of person, fundamental analysis may be your forte.

In Forex trading, traders tend to rely more on technical analysis to make informed decision on future price movement.

Most seasoned trader after years of trading tend to develop their own trading system or methodology. The system could be a combination of certain technical indicators which they are very comfortable with. It is only when a trader is very comfortable with his system that he will trade it wholeheartedly and confidently. For others, they may decide to trade someone else?s system.

Regardless of whatever approaches you use ? be it fundamental analysis or technical analysis, the system or method must be profitable and nothing else matter.

For many traders, they think that the best way to find out whether a system or method is profitable is through back testing. However, back testing has its disadvantage is that it can never fully duplicate live market conditions. What is obvious setup may not be so obvious in real time.

A better alternative is by forward testing trading your system in real-time with a demo account. Forward testing will give you a better and clearer understanding of what your system is capable of. In Forex trading, live demo account is so widely and easily available and trades just like a real account. It is an excellent way to evaluate the profitability of a system.

For a system to be profitable, we also need to know about expectancy and opportunity.

Basically, expectancy will tell a trader what you can expect to make (win or lose) for every dollar risked. The expectancy formula is as follows:

Expectancy = (Probability of winning ? average win) ? (Probability of losing ? average loss).

It will produce a figure which is the average amount you can expect to profit per trade. If the expectancy is negative, it means that the system or method can?t generate profit. And obviously, the higher the expectancy is the better.

After expectancy, we will have to look at the opportunity factor. Opportunity simply means the number of opportunity you are able to trade with your system or method. By multiplying expectancy with opportunity, a trader will know how much you can make with your system or method over a period of time. For obvious reason, if the system?s expectancy is positive and offers plentiful of trading opportunities, it will means more profit.

Now, we have come to the most important aspect of Trading ? Money Management. 90% of traders failed in Forex Trading mainly because of they don?t understand the important of money management. Money management will inform you how much you should risk per trade. The main focus of money management is the preservation of trading capital to ensure your survival over the long term. The most common method of money management is the percent risk model. It will tell a trader not to risk more than how many percent of your trading account balance on any one trade. Generally, a range of between 1-3% is acceptable percentage to use in order to make money in the long term. Just imagine if a trader has a risk exposure of 20% per trade, few straight losses in a row will wipe out the entire account.

After reading the above factors, you will be more or less able to know which approaches suits you.

Factors That Can Help You Make Great Profits Trading Forex

There is no way to understand the Forex market unless you have a grasp of what factors can influence the way the market will function on any given day.

Here are some examples of various elements that come into play each day and impact the market for better or for worse.

Perhaps the single most common influence on the daily market is that of economics within a given country.

One factor that can really make a difference in how well a nation's currency will trade, has to do with the amount of the deficit currently held by the current government.

Sudden jumps in the deficit will result in the currency falling in exchange with other countries. As the government reduces the deficit, the currency will begin to recover and actually rise in the rate of exchange.

Along with the budget deficit, a trade deficit can also impact the rate of exchange.

Simply put, if a country is not doing at least as much exporting of goods and services as it is importing, a deficit arises.

This is a clear economic indicator that will have a negative impact on the value of the country's currency.

Internal inflation or recession will also make a difference in the way the currency of a given country is valued.

Inflation in particular has the ability to cause currency to lose value. As a country enters into a period where inflation is rampant, the desirability of the currency will fall, as it is perceived as being less stable overall.

Because inflation lessens the purchasing power of a country internally, it is also seen as being a deficit in the ability to purchase goods and services from other countries.

As inflation is reined in and periods of mild recession come into play, the value of the currency will once again rise in comparison to other countries.

As with all facets of life, politics also can have a good effect on currency exchange rates, or it can bottom them out.

Changes in government personnel that are viewed in a negative light will very quickly reflect a devaluing of the country's currency.

The same is true when the current government makes decisions that are perceived as not being in the best interests of the world community.

At the same time, an election that puts in office persons, who are esteemed to be favorable by the world community, can very quickly raise the value of that country's currency, at least as long as those officials maintain their favorable status.

The fact of the matter is that quite a few factors that have to do with trading and the overall financial picture of a country will make a huge difference in how the country's currency will fare on any given day.

Some factors may result in only temporary upward or downward trends, while others will be more long term in effect. One thing is for sure: the Forex market is never boring.

You can use the information above to make some good gains when you trade currencies

It should be noted Forex trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors.

Emotional? Get Ready To Lose Your Shirt In The Forex Game!

“Go with your gut.”

Yeah right. That's advice to doom you at the currency exchange game.

When it comes to forex trading, that’s a trading strategy that is bound to lose you money – unless your gut is highly trained and impervious to emotion. The trick to making money in the currency exchange market is to avoid making emotional decisions and follow a carefully thought out strategy that takes the current market and history into account.

Forex trading is a highly volatile market. Emotions tend to run high – and low – and either of those extremes can influence your trading decisions, unless you have a strategy planned in advance, and stick to it, no matter what you THINK you’re seeing at the moment. The keys to success in Forex are system, analysis and perseverance. Note that emotion is not one of them. Going with your gut is a losing proposition in forex trading.

Letting your emotions rule your decisions can hurt your trading in several different ways. It’s the reason that most experienced traders tell novice traders that they need to develop a system – and stick to it no matter what. The system tells you when to buy, what to buy, when to trade and what to trade for. By sticking to your system even when you want to fly in the face of accumulated data, you’ll maximize your profits.

A system based on technical analysis of historical market trends is one of the most potent tools that you can utilize if you’re just getting started in forex trading – and many traders with years of experience continue to use their system to keep the profits rolling in. In fact, many will tell you that when their ‘gut instinct’ and their system collide, the system is almost always right.

The third key is perseverance. Analysis of trends in the market will show you that the market moves in dips and spurts within overall patterns that are predictable. No trend moves smoothly in an up or down line – there are inevitable periods of time when values suddenly spiral up or down based on some outside factor. These are the times when emotion can hurt your portfolio. When a currency that you’re holding takes a sudden dip south, it’s tempting to succumb to panic trading, cut your losses and run even if your system tells you to hold on. On the other hand, it’s easy to catch the rising excitement as a trade starts increasing in value and scramble to buy more of the same. These are exactly the times to rely most heavily on your trading system. It will tell you exactly when to trade for maximum profit.

Using a mechanical system takes the emotion out of your trading, eliminating one of the key factors that people fail. Your system doesn’t get stubborn about proving a theory. It isn’t swayed by bad news, or elated by good news. It doesn’t hold onto a bad trade hoping against hope that if it just holds on long enough, the trend will turn around and become a moneymaker.

To be effective, your system – whether you develop your own or adopt one created by someone else – should identify the entry point of your trade, the exit point of your trade, mitigating factors, and an exit strategy. In laymen’s terms that means:

- Under what conditions should I acquire a currency? For instance, you may have a buy order for when a particular currency drops more than 5 pips because your analysis tells you that that’s likely to be as low as it goes.

- Under what conditions should I trade that currency for another – and which one? There are two reasons to exit – to maximize your profit, or minimize your loss. That means you have a set stop-loss order and a set take-profit order at which point to cash out your trade.

- What factors will I allow to change that decision? If you’re not careful, this is where emotion will sour deals for you. While the money market moves in predictable patterns, there are always individual variations of a trend within those patterns. If you’ve taken those variations into account, it will be far easier to decide when a factor really does make a difference, and when it’s just wishful thinking.

- How will I trade out of a currency? Your exit strategy may be as simple as ‘a stop-loss order when my loss hits 5% or a take-profit order when I’ll make 40% profit’.

By employing a system to tell you when to get in, out or stick, you’ll minimize the impact of your emotions on your trading and maximize your profit.
